Back Order Dashboard

Overview

Back orders are one of the biggest pain points in fulfillment — they delay shipments, frustrate clients, and put pressure on service levels. By default, the system automatically clears back orders as soon as replenished stock is available. The Back Order Dashboard adds an extra layer of control, giving 3PLs a dedicated workspace to manually resolve back orders in seconds. Instead of digging through filters in the Order Dashboard, administrators can release orders the moment stock is ready, ensuring nothing stays stuck and clients see issues resolved without delay.

How It Works

The dashboard displays all outstanding back orders across merchants, with missing items highlighted in red alongside their required quantities. Administrators can filter by shopper to narrow the view or search directly for specific orders. Once stock is available, back orders can be resolved in two ways: release all orders for a merchant in one step, or select and resolve individual orders. With a single click, orders are cleared and flow back into fulfillment.

Why It Matters

  • Cuts resolution time by giving a dedicated place to clear back orders without filtering through the Order Dashboard.

  • Puts you in control for exceptions, letting you manually release orders when auto-resolution hasn’t caught up.

  • Matches your workflow with bulk release by merchant or precise one-by-one fixes.

  • Clarifies blockers at a glance—missing items and quantities—so you can communicate ETAs and protect SLAs.

Best Practice

The Back Order Dashboard works best as a safeguard rather than a primary workflow. Let the system’s automatic resolution handle the majority of back orders as inventory is replenished, and use the dashboard to quickly clear exceptions or urgent cases. Administrators should check the dashboard during peak periods or after large receipts to ensure no order remains stuck. By treating the dashboard as a control lever for exceptions, 3PLs maintain both speed and reliability without adding unnecessary manual work.
